Bloomsburg Rolls Past Cheyney In Football

BLOOMSBURG- Jamar Brittingham (Levittown/Neshaminy) rushed for 160 yards and three scores to lead the Bloomsburg University Huskies (6-3, 4-1 PSAC East) to a 55-6 win over Cheyney University (1-9, 0-4 PSAC East) on Saturday. Brittingham also moved within 79 yards of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference career rushing record held by Wesley Cates formerly of California.
The win was also the 500th in school history for Bloomsburg, whose program dates back to 1892.
Bloomsburg scored on its first drive of the game with Brittingham going in from four-yards out to make it 6-0 after the missed extra point. The drive was set up by an interception by middle linebacker Rob Biernat, who returned the pick from the Cheyney 40 to Wolves' 27-yard line.
Brittingham's second score came on a five-yard run that was also set up by a Wolves' fumble deep in its own territory, making it a 13-0 game.
The Huskies made it 20-0 just before the end of the first period when Josh Heck (Hazleton/Hazleton) scored on a 12- yard run, then extended the lead to 27-0 early in the second when Heck scored his second touchdown on a 45-yard jaunt.
Bloomsburg made it 34-0 with a 20-yard touchdown run by Stefan Adams (West Chester/Henderson) at the end of the first half to cap off a 13-play, 99-yard drive.
The Huskies scored on their first drive of the second half with Brittingham diving in from four yards out to make it 41-0 after Jon Koenig's (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) extra point.
Cheyney got on the board in the third period after forcing a fumble at the Huskies three-yard line, with Bobby Hogan scoring from one yard out to make it 41-6.
The Huskies added to its total with a two-yard run from Alex Landis (Pine Grove/Pine Grove) and a three-yard run by James Sweeting (Hughesville/Hughesville) making the final 55-6.
In addition to Brittingham's 160 yards, Heck ran eight times for 100 yards and two scores.
